Readers had a wide range of opinions about whether the kids should be able to, well, weather the weather. Factories and warehouses don’t close when the temperature rises. These are the same people who would complain if their school district installed air conditioning and added the cost of the system and its operation to the tax bill. I think the governor should have ordered all schools to dismiss early, air conditioners or not, because most of the kids had to walk home in the heat. Give the kids a lot of extra water, skip recess and move all classes to the first floor of the school, if possible.
