November 6th, 2008Opinions: Do you think raising minimum wage will help? If so. How?
Do you think if we raise minimum wage it will keep prices and the cost of living the same? Do you think the government can just print money and everything will be alright?
What makes you think raising minimum wage will do anything at all?
Is life about surviving on minimum wage, or is it about advancing beyond minimum wage?
If I were a big business and I knew people could easily afford the price of my goods… I’d jack them up and give more free crap to the tards on MTV. It’s moved beyond the point of affording something these days. It’s proving that you can afford the unaffordable. Thats the beauty behind wannabe nobility!!! Your society will skip a few child support payments to afford a diamon grill.
Gotta love America.

no the min wage is an entry level spot to get experience, and for small shop owners to afford help and give experience. If the shop owners can’t afford to hire the entry level help then there is no experience taught. Defeats the whole purpose.

The minimum wage is nothing more than a price floor on labor, which results in a surplus of the same. Single teenagers almost exclusively benefit from the wage increase while everyone suffers from the increase in prices resulting from higher operating expenses.
Minimum wage is the pet of the Democratic party because they know they can us it to fool ignorant Americans into voting for them. I blame that more on the ignorant Americans than I do on the Democrats.

The price of goods are increasing steadily without a minimum wage increase. If it cost $4 for a gallon of milk and the minimum wage is $5.15 then, yes, I think the minimum wage increase would help those people making minimum wage. Oh, and it’s not just teenagers making minimum wage.
Here’s an except from an article on the people making minimum wage.
“One reason even some Republicans are mulling the wage hike is that the number of single mothers making minimum wage has nearly doubled in the last 10 years. Of Americans making less than $7.25 an hour, half are over 24 years old, and about half are primary household earners. Sixty-two percent are white, 16 percent are black, and 17 percent are Hispanic. Nearly twice as many are women than men.

An increase in the minimum wage puts more disposable income in the hands of the working poor, which benefits the economy. Study after study has shown no impact in terms of raising inflation or creating unemployment.
