Gairy St Clair warned Amir Khan yesterday that the prospect of a huge pay day has provided a deep motivation for him to tear the Commonwealth lightweight belt from the unbeaten 21-year-old Briton’s tight grasp tonight at the Excel Centre in London’s docklands. St Clair is a proven performer, having only lost five times in his 13-year, 46-fight career, and became the International Boxing Federation world super-featherweight champion at short notice when he out-pointed Malcolm Klassen in South Africa in 2006. The Olympic silver medallist accepts he is unlikely to blow away St Clair in the manner he disposed of former British champion Graham Earl , a 72-second victim in December. Khan is up for this, and could break St Clair up by the late rounds by his much longer reach – he is 6ins taller than St Clair - and become the first man to stop him. Read More
